Creative Gardens Donaghadee was the first centre started by the Gass family– and has been trading for well over 30 years now.
Located between Bangor and Donaghadee it offers everything you would expect from a world class garden centre. Creative Gardens Bushmills is located on the gorgeous north coast, a stone’s throw from the Giants Causeway and Bushmills Distillery. They’ve recently completed renovations, including a brand-new BBQ Barn and a fully covered children’s play area. Creative Gardens has been winning awards for decades. The latest accolades include ‘The Best Garden Centre in Northern Ireland 2016’ Issued by the National Garden Centre Association.
Creative Gardens wanted to install a biomass system at their two sites to reduce fuel bills and avail of the income generated via the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme.
The design and application was more complex than normal installations due to variation of the buildings which were constructed in brick, metal, glass and wood.
Within each heating circuit the buildings ranged in type and size. The customer’s needs were varied requiring constant hot water and on demand heating at all times. This was solved with innovative use of Sabiana heaters (Sky Vector and Atlas), traditional radiators and DHW heating. All were linked into the existing plumbing installation.
The construction site required special attention to health and safety as work was carried out within public areas. Out of hours working was necessary to accommodate the bakery which started early in the morning. All work was carried out while still allowing the garden centres to continue their business as normal.
